Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Tangier - Asilah - Volubilis - Meknes - Fes

Meet & greet upon arrival in the Tangier Ville, Tangier Med ports, Ibn Battuta International Airport or even from your accommodation in Tangier. Your driver/guide will take you for an interesting journey for 4 days to discover the most highlights of north of Morocco starting with a visit to the tranquil & artistic city of Asilah. You will meander around beautiful streets of this enchanting city. It was built by the Portuguese in the 15th century as a fortress, and its strongholds and bastions still witness this fact. 

You will then drive through the fertile plan of Gharb leading us to the Roman Ruins of Volubilis where you can have a guided walking tour of this archaelogical site. It is an opportunity to learn about the Roman Civilization that settled not only in Morocco but also in the north of Africa. You will continue on the track to the 17th century former imperial city of Mekne where you can have a tour around this charming city.

Meknes was founded by the late Alaouite Sultan Moulay Ismail who turned the city into one of the most beautiful cities in the world to the extent it had the title of the Moroccan Versailles. You will initiate your tour of Meknes by the impressive Bab (gate) Mansour that overlooks the El-Hedim Square, then stretch your legs into the vibrant olive market as Meknes is the capital of olives. Drive through the high-walls of the Royal Palace that lead to the Royal Stables & Granaries where you can lean about the 12000 royal horses and where the Sultan used to look after them well along with the stables where they used to store wheat and barley. Continue on the track to Fes via the highway.

Day 2: Explore Fes - Chefchaouen

Today, you will spend the first half-day exploring the spiritual and cultural capital of Fes with a local tour guide. Our guided tour of Fes will begin with a drive uphill to enjoy the panoramic of the Fes el-Bali (Oldest Fes), which is the largest urban and car-free district in the world to the extent that it has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will drive to the former Jewish Quarter (Mellah) where you can firstly take pictures by the golden gates of the Royal Palace, then meander around the vibrant alleyways of the Mellah while learning about the Jewish lifestyle and their relation with Muslims Moroccans.

Now, you will get into the heart of the Fes el-Bali where you will be take back in time to the Medieval Era as you will be amazed how life stopped here. The only means of transportation is donkeys and mules, you will enjoy your walk through the countless labyrinthine alleyways with its bustling cafes, unique style of life, boys playing in the streets, pass-by the Koranic Schools including the Qarawiyyin University, which is the oldest university in the world. 

You will visit old Funduks that have been turned into Museums without missing a visit to the famous Chouara Tanneries where the best quality of leather is being made following traditional methods as it has been passed on from one generation to another. After lunch, you will head north to the blue-city of Chefchaouen with a drive through the spectacular Rif Mountains.

Day 3: Explore Chefchaouen - Tangier

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, you will spend most of the day exploring what the blue-city of Chefchaouen has to offer on your own. The Medina of Chefchaouen has been listed as one of the most charming Medinas in the world due to its immense beauty, tranquility and unique lifestyle of the locals. You may want to include a visit to the dramatic Kasbah (fortress) that goes back to the 15th century and is the cause behind the expansion of the whole city. 

Get lost in the blue streets while taking pictures, enjoying the stunning designs of the windows, buildings and doors. You will get to the Ras el-Ma Spring, which is a unique cultural hub as you will see women wash clothes, carpets and clothes. You may want to include a soft hike up to the mosque where you can get a full view of the Medina before returning back to the famous Utta Hamma, which is in the very heart of the Medina with its lined cafes and restaurants.

After lunch, you will drive to Tangier through the Rif Mountains where you will spend your third night.

Day 4: Explore Tangier

Today, you will have a guided tour of the mysterious Tangier. Drive through the Ville Nouvelle that was built by the international powers when Morocco was a the Spanish & French Protectorate except Tangier, which was international. The districts take the names of the countries that ruled the city. You will enjoy the stunning view in the Cap Spartel where it is believed the Atlantic & the Mediterranean Seas meet. 

Drive by the Atlantic Ocean where you can include a camel ride experience by the sandy beach of the Atlantic before continuing on the track to the Neolithic Hercules Caves. After visiting the Caves, we will drive to the Kasbah district, which is located uphill offering panoramic views of the Strait of Gibraltar, Iberian Peninsula and the Medina. Visit the Kasbah Museum, which was resided by the Sultan Moulay Ismail in the 17th century. The Museum exhibits a wide selection of authentic Moroccan, Andalusian & Roman Antiques, and the building itself is impressive.

You will explore the mysterious Medina of Tangier with its vibrant Souks that are organized into sections based on specialty. Get to the Petit Socco, then the Gran Socco before including a visit to the American Legation. In the late afternoon, we will escort to your accommodation in Tangier in case your plan is to stay more days in the city; otherwise, we can transfer you either to the port, airport or to the train station, and end our 4 Days Morocco Tour From Tangier
