Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Casablanca

Meet and greet upon arrival in the Mohammed V International Airport by your private driver/guide. Drive to the city center of Casablanca where you can visit the impressive Hassan II Mosque. This unique masterpiece of architecture is the third largest mosque in the world with the capacity of more than 86000 worshippers. Have a drive through the Corniche of Ain Diab before we get to your accommodation where you can relax and get ready for the next day’s adventure.

Day 2: Casablanca - Rabat - Chefchaouen

After having breakfast in your hotel, you will head through the highway to Rabat, which is the official capital of Morocco & home of the King since 1912. You will have a tour around this UNESCO listed city beginning with the dramatic Oudayas Kasbah (fortress) that offers panoramic views over the ever-flowing Bou Regreg River, the city of Sale and the Atlantic Ocean. 

After meandering around the Oudayas intricate streets, you will visit the Hassan Tower that was initially a great project of a mosque but did not complete because the Sultan Abu Yacoub Mansour died i the 12th century. The tower can be seen from different directions and as been the landmark of Rabat. Adjacent to the tower is the marbled building of Mohammed V Mausoleum where the king’s father, grandfather and uncle are all buried. 

You will then continue our drive to the blue-city of Chefchaouen through the fertile plan of Gharb. Arrive in Chefchaouen in the late afternoon.

Day 3: Full-Day Exploring Chefchaouen

Today, you will spend the day exploring the blue-painted city of Chefchaouen on your own. You may want to start your tour by the famous Utta Hammam Square, which is the very heart of the Medina. Visit the dramatic Kasbah that goes back to the 15th century where Moulay Ali Ibn Rashid decided to build the Kasbah (fortress) to fight against the Portuguese & Spanish Invaders.

Get lost in the intricate and beautiful streets of the Medina with the blue-color domination the horizons turning it into an artistic arena. You will get to the cultural hub of Ras el-Ma Spring offering stunning views along with local woman washing clothes, carpets and blankets in the spring. You may want to extend your day by having a soft trek up where you can get a full panoramic view of the Medina.

Later, you return back to the square where you can have lunch while watching the passers-by. In the evening you many want to have another walk to sample the local lifestyle.

Day 4: Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes - Fes

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, you will continue on the track to the former imperial city of Meknes of while including a guided walking tour of the archaeological Roman Ruins where you will learn about the Roman Civilization.

Meknes was once called the Moroccan Versailles because of its unique beauty. It was founded in the 17th century by the late Sultan Moulay Ismail whose initiation with the construction of long high-walls to provide fortification, then moved on to building some of the finest edifices turning Meknes into one of the most beautiful destinations. Your tour of Meknes will begin by the impressive Bab (Gate) Mansour, which is the largest gate in the Islamic World with its geometric designs.

You may want to stretch your legs in the nearby olive market, then drive through the high-walls of the Royal Palace leading us to the Royal Granaries & Stables where the Sultan used to look after his 12.000 horses along with storing grains. Later, you will drive to Fes through the highway.

Day 5: Explore Fes - Ifrane - Midelt

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, you will have a guided walking tour of the Fes el-Bali with a local tour guide. You will meander around the intricate alleyways of the Fes el-Bali (Oldest Fes), which is the largest car-free district in the world and is a UNESCO listed as a World Heritage Site. Thousands of alleyways that are shrouded in mystery, bustling cafes, vibrant Souks along with the unique lifestyle will take back to Medieval Times.

You will visit the Museums, the Funduks, pass-by the Koranic Schools including the famous Qarawiyyin University, which is the oldest university in the world. You will also include a visit to the Chouara Tanneries where you can learn about how the process of making the best quality of leather using traditional methods.

After lunch, you head south with a nice drive through the lush and UNESCO listed cedar forest while including a short break in the charming city of Ifran, which was listed in 2015 as the second cleanest city in the world. Have another stop in the UNESCO preserved cedar forest of the Middle Atlas that hosts a colony of Barbary Macaques before continuing on the track to Zaida where you can the spend the night.

Day 6: Midelt - Ziz Valley - Erfoud - Merzouga Desert

Today, you will drive further south the Merzouga Desert while crossing the spectacular High-Atlas Mountains offering breathtaking views. Have another stop for pictures in the panoramic Ziz Valley with its countless palm-trees. If we are visit coincides with the weekly market in either Erfoud or Rissani, then we can include a tour of the traditional market before heading to the desert.

You will go for a camel ride experience, which you will remember forever. Enjoy the stunning views of the sunset atop the sand dune. Get to the desert camp where you will have a delicious meal for dinner inside the restaurant or under the stars. You may want to join the staff of the camp for some entertainment or stretch your legs in the soft sand while watching the stars that illuminate the sky. 

Day 7: Merzouga Desert - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley

Today, you will wake up in the early morning to attend the majestic view of the sunrise over the sand dunes. Have breakfast before heading to the Dades Valley while including a short break in the impressive Todra Gorge (Canyon). The views are stunning with the high cliffs that keep attracting visitors all year around including mountain climbers. You will then continue on the track, after lunch, to the lush Valley of Dades where you will spend the 7th night.

Day 8: Dades Valley - Bout Gharar Caves - Valley of Roses - Ouarzazate

 After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, you will have a nice journey to Ouarzazate through the rocky plateau on the edge of the High-Atlas Mountains. You will include a visit to the nomad family that still live in a cave offering an opportunity to learn how these people have been enduring the toughness of nature.

You will have another short break in the Valley of the Roses where you can form an idea about the local products including perfumes, cosmetics, rose-water and much more. Our next stop will be in the palm-dotted oasis of Skoura where we can include a visit to the 17th century Amridil Kasbah before reaching Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) in the late afternoon.

Day 9: Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - High Atlas - Marrakech

Today, you will resume your 12 days Morocco tour from Casablanca to Marrakech through the High-Atlas Mountains. En route, you will visit the dramatic & UNESCO listed village of Ait Benhaddou, which consists of many Kasbahs (fortresses) that are striking examples of the southeastern architecture. Ait Benhaddou goes back to the 11th century in the former caravan route that used to connect Marrakech to the Sahara.

Ait Benhaddou has been used as a backdrop for shooting numerous movies including Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven and much more. After lunch, you will drive through the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m) before reaching Marrakech in the later afternoon.

Day 10: Full-Day Exploring Marrakech

After having breakfast in your Riad/hotel, you will have a guided walking tour of the Marrakech with a local tour guide. You will initiate the tour with a drive through the Ville Nouvelle that was built by the French when Morocco was a French Protectorate from 1912 to 1956. Visit the botanical gardens of Majorelle, which is owned by Yves Saint Laurent who turned into a small paradise on earth. 

Drive back to the Medina where you can learn about the history of the Koutoubia Mosque, which is the landmark of Marrakech as it can be seen from different locations. Visit the 15th century Saadian Tombs where you can learn about the Saadian Dynasty that ruled Morocco in the 15 and 16th centuries. Have a tour of the Bahia Palace that was built by the Sultan’s Vizier in the 19th century before getting into the heart of the Medina where you can visit one of the largest Souks (markets) in the world. The Souks are organized into sections based on items that are put for sale before ending our tour in the Jemaa el-Fna Square (the focal point of Marrakech).

Day 11: Day Trip to Essaouira

Today, you will have a day trip to Essaouira where you can spend the time meandering around its traditional harbour with its Skalas (bastions). Essaouira was once called Mogador when it was settled by the Portuguese the Sultan Mohammed who hired foreign engineers to give it the design of a perfect fortress. Visit the fish market, the Souks and stretch your legs by the sandy beach of Essaouira, which is famous for its winds all year around to the extent the city has been given the name of the Capital of Winds attracting surfers, kitesurfers from all over the world.

After lunch, you will drive back to Marrakech through the speedy road.

Day 12: Airport Transfer
